
The BRHireD Program is opening doors for people in the Baton Rouge area to get trained, certified, and employed as medical assistants—no experience needed to begin!

BRHireD is open to unemployed and employed individuals that would like to advance their career by becoming a Certified Medical Assistant and are committed to two semesters of education and training with Baton Rouge Community College or River Parishes Community College. In addition to completing a two-semester training program, ideal candidates are willing to work on-site in healthcare settings, perform both administrative and clinical tasks, and take pride in caring for and helping others.
The BRHireD application for medical assistant scholarships is now OPEN and accepting applications. The application deadline is December 19, 2025, at 12:00 noon. The program is expecting to award 40 scholarships to individuals who are ready to take the next step toward a career in healthcare. Scholarship recipients can expect to start their training courses in January 2026!
Selected BRHireD scholarship recipients will receive:
- Tuition coverage for medical assistant training courses paid directly to approved community college training providers
- Living wage stipend to cover expenses during required clinical rotation shifts
- Additional support to help scholarship recipients excel in their training program and land quality employment as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
